Hell No!

Well I just returned home from seeing the touring company of my second favorite show of all time 'The Color Purple'. Having seen this show twice before on Broadway, once with the miss American Idol Fantasia, I was very excited to see this show in my hometown at the Fox Theatre.

This week is a big week for me because in four days on June 1 I will be running my first ever half marathon. To treat myself for all my hard training and dedication for keeping me healthy I decided to buy a great ticket to the show. Now I decided to go alone as to not torture or embarrass anyone else because I am basically "waterworks" during this whole show. From the first note that the orchestra plays to the curtain call at the end I can cry and do cry at the drop of a hat. Who wants to sit next to me while I'm balling my eyes out the whole show anyway? So I go alone, ok?

So there I sat happy as a clam in the fifth row laughing, crying and smiling watching these amazing souls sing their guts out while spreading some love. The highlight of the night was opening up my Playbill and discovering that Felicia Fields would be playing Sophia. I saw her in this role the first time in NYC. She is incredible, so when I saw her name I had to call uncle Doug and Nick and tell them because we all love her! God it was good to see her again spreading some Helllll No advice.

Let me just get one rant in here...are we serious about the Little Ceasers pizza, hot dogs, chips, nachos and giant soda's at a theatre? Come on people, it's 7:30 pm you should have eaten dinner already and trust me I understand the evening snack thing. I do think you will make it if you don't eat those nachos during the biggest number in the show though. Trust me I love to eat and basically do it every 2-3 hours but when I am paying to see a LIVE performance I don't need the person behind me throwing down a big bag of  Rays Chips while sucking down a 32oz Coke. I would just love Mr. Illitch and the Fox to only allow this in the lobby. Or even better not offer these crazy things at all! Killin' me people! The annoying candy cellophane wrapper has been replaced by nachos...yay America!

After seeing this show I need a good nights sleep to get myself back together. It completely drains me and this week especially I am some kind of emotional! Could it be all the running? Ever since my last long run on a week ago I am a complete sap. How about I drove by the Fox Theatre after that 12.5 mile run and saw "Oprah Presents The Color Purple" on the marquis and I started crying. I guess I couldn't believe it was here in Detroit...?  I don't get it but I do know that tonight gave me the mid week boost I needed to get myself across that finish line in under 2 hours!
